Originating from France in the Veneto region, specifically within the Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG appellation in northeastern Italy, Campagnola Amarone della Valpolicella represents a rich, prestigious, and deeply concentrated expression of classic Italian winemaking. Produced by Giuseppe Campagnola, a historic family-owned winery established in 1886 and now managed by its fifth generation, the estate combines century-old traditions with modern ecological viticulture. Sourced from selected hillside vineyards situated on clay-limestone soils across the Valpolicella zone, the winemaking philosophy centers on the traditional appassimento method, where hand-harvested grapes undergo natural drying in wooden crates for up to four months to concentrate sugars, flavours, and extracts. Following a slow winter fermentation, the wine is aged for over two years in large Slavonian oak casks to develop exceptional complexity, structural richness, and cellaring power.
Wine Description
The wine presents a deep, clear dark ruby garnet colour with rich crimson and terracotta highlights along the rim. An intense, intoxicating bouquet opens with opulent aromas of dried cherry, raisin, and dark plum jam, interwoven with sophisticated notes of dark chocolate, sweet tobacco, espresso bean, dried violet, and toasted cinnamon oak spice. On the palate, it is full bodied, velvety, and expansive, delivering luxurious layers of sweet dark berries, fig, and cocoa powder, all supported by a firm, mouthwatering core of natural acidity. Framed by smooth, fine-grained tannins and a rich, warming mid-palate, it concludes with a long, persistent finish marked by lingering notes of dried fruit, licorice, and savory earthiness. Composed of a traditional blend of Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella, it combines the iconic power and dried-fruit richness of Amarone with refined balance and timeless elegance.
