Groundwork Coffee Co Organic Brazil Whole Bean Coffee is a single-origin, 12-ounce bag of medium-roast organic beans sourced from Brazil and packaged for freshness.
These whole beans are roasted to highlight natural nutty and chocolate notes typical of Brazilian coffee, while being produced under organic and fair-trade-friendly practices. The 12 oz pack is designed for home grinders and drip machines, preserving aroma until you grind. Groundwork positions this blend as a responsibly sourced, everyday coffee that balances smooth flavor with sustainable sourcing options.
What flavor profile can I expect from Groundwork Organic Brazil whole beans?
You’ll find a smooth, balanced cup leaning toward nutty and cocoa tones with low acidity. Roasting is tuned to bring forward sweet, rounded flavors rather than sharp brightness, making it accessible for many brewing methods.
- Primary notes: toasted almond, milk chocolate, and caramelized sugar
- Acidity: mild to moderate, smooth mouthfeel
- Body: medium, slightly creamy texture
- Finish: clean, lingering cocoa aftertaste
How should I brew these whole beans for the best result?
Fresh grinding right before brewing brings out the aroma and nuanced flavors. Grind size depends on your method: coarser for French press, medium for drip, and fine for espresso; adjust ratio to taste.
- French press: coarse grind, 1:15 coffee-to-water ratio
- Pour-over/drip: medium grind, 1:16 ratio for clarity
- Espresso: fine grind, concentrate with shorter extraction time
- Use filtered water and brew within 30 minutes of grinding
What certifications and sourcing practices does Groundwork use?
The bag carries organic credentials, and Groundwork offers fair trade and ethically sourced options across its range. While labels vary, the brand emphasizes traceability and partnerships with regional growers in Brazil to support sustainable agriculture.
- Certified organic: produced without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers
- Fair-trade or small-farm partnerships where available
- Supports local producers and environmentally conscious farming
- Roasted and packaged to maintain bean freshness and quality
How long will the 12 oz bag stay fresh and how should I store it?
Whole beans retain peak freshness for several weeks after roasting when stored correctly. Keep the sealed bag in a cool, dark place and reseal tightly; avoid refrigeration or freezing that can introduce moisture.
- Best within 2–4 weeks of opening for optimal aroma
- Store in an airtight container away from heat and light
- Do not refrigerate—moisture and odors reduce quality
- Use within months; vacuum-sealed retail packaging helps extend shelf life
