Form Meets Force The Z2 is the 80mm grind platform from Zerno, and hand assembled in Chicago using premium stainless steel and aircraft grade aluminium. The Z2's custom 800W motor features variable RPM, purge mode, a magnetic chute knocker and micron level stepless grind adjustment.
Platform For Experimentation
Unlock Potential. Explore Every Flavour
The Z2 was designed for those who never stop tinkering—prosumers and professionals alike.
Supporting a wide range of 80mm burrs, it makes experimenting, swapping burrs, and holding your grind settings effortless, all while maintaining flawless alignment—no shims needed.
Easily swap between two-hole and three-hole burrs—traditional or blind. With effortless access and a system aligned by design, you can zero in on grind profiles for espresso, pour-over, and everything in between.
Burr changes don’t reset your grind journey; they deepen it.
Auger Prebreaker System
Smoother Feeds. Fewer Fines.
Born from years of experience, the Z2’s all-stainless steel auger and grind chamber reduce retention while feeding beans with precision.
Redesigned from the Z1, the auger slows bean feed rate below burr speed, minimising back pressure and fine generation for a cleaner, clearer cup.
Brushless Servo Motor
Precision You Can Hear (Or Can't)
The Z2’s heart is an industry-first, direct-drive 800W brushless AC servo motor—custom developed by Zerno.
Operating across a universal 100–240VAC input, the motor maintains constant torque and speed, delivering consistent grinds regardless of load.
Built For Silence
The motor’s driver operates above audible frequencies. What you hear isn’t noise—it’s
intention. The RPM knob glides on preloaded ball bearings with a smooth, deliberate
precision, its stainless steel finish offering a quiet confidence that endures.
Engineered For Alignment
The Z2’s motor system is engineered for alignment longevity. Oversized, preloaded
German ball bearings ensure maximum spindle rigidity—rivalling commercial CNC-grade
systems. Swap burrs, deep clean, or adjust settings, and the Z2 remains perfectly aligned,
grind after grind.
All Stainless Steel Grinding Components
Built to Last. Engineered to Perform.
The entire grind mechanism in the Z2 is crafted from precision-machined stainless steel,
ensuring rigidity, longevity, and reliability. This industrial-level build quality translates directly
into consistent results and reduced maintenance over time.
Precision Micron Dial
Luxurious Feel. Control Every Micron.
At the front of the Z2 sits the smoothest precision micron dial in the industry.
Built with an internal brass thread and mounted on a German ball bearing, the dial delivers feedback you can feel—precise, fluid, and tactile.
Setting the zero point is effortless, accurate, and repeatable. You’ll feel when the burrs touch—just like sensing road texture in a high-performance sports car. It’s feedback made physical, the interface between human and machine.
The Z2’s magnetic accent piece allows quick, tool-less access to the zeroing mechanism and creates opportunities for personalisation.
Whether matched to a kitchen, café, or personal taste, it’s designed to adapt seamlessly—simple, functional, and made to look right at home in any setting.
Grind Modes
The Z2 features a military-grade European switch to activate two intuitive grind modes:
Standard and Purge. Purge mode rapidly evacuates any residual grounds before/after use,
eliminating exchange.
Every component, from switch selection to internal tolerances, was tested and refined over dozens of iterations.
Built In Knocker
A built-in knocker reaches deep into the grind chamber, clearing every last particle of coffee.
This attention to detail ensures minimal retention and maximum consistency—cup after cup. It’s not just a feature. It’s peace of mind.
