From the heart of Tuscany, Italy, the Vicchiomaggio estate lies within the Chianti Classico region, near the town of Greve in Chianti. With a winemaking history dating back to the Renaissance, Castello Vicchiomaggio is today owned and operated by the Matta family, who uphold a philosophy of tradition fused with innovation. The estate is particularly renowned for its Sangiovese-based wines that reflect the terroir's elegance and structure.
Wine Description
This Chianti Classico Riserva displays a deep ruby colour with garnet highlights. On the nose, it offers intense aromas of ripe cherry, black plum, leather, and hints of violet, layered with subtle oak spices and earthy undertones. The palate is rich yet refined, with medium to full body, smooth tannins, and a vibrant acidity that gives the wine lift and freshness. Flavours of dark berry fruit, tobacco, dried herbs, and a touch of espresso unfold through a long, elegant finish.
