This independent bottler loves a good mystery. They've bottled this twenty-four-year-old bourbon from an entirely undisclosed American distillery, splashing the label with playful Area 51 and Bigfoot crop circle references. Rumors constantly swirl about the liquid originating from the original Heaven Hill facility before the devastating 1996 fire. We'll likely never know the precise source, but the sheer gravity of a bourbon surviving twenty-four years commands instant respect.
Aged for twelve long years stateside, the massive barrels then crossed the Atlantic for another twelve years of maturation in the United Kingdom. This transcontinental slumber shaped the profile. Instead of extracting excessive bitterness from the oak, the cooler British climate seemingly preserved the underlying orchard-fruit notes. You'll get an outrageously textured spirit showcasing immense depth without the punishing tannins usually found in ultra-aged American whiskies.
Batch 1 yielded a surprisingly robust 8,376 bottles. That volume alone makes it an absolute anomaly in today's bourbon landscape. It pours a dark mahogany. Independent bottlings of this staggering age and caliber rarely surface, meaning they're an essential acquisition for serious collectors and unabashed whiskey nerds alike. Key details for this expression include:
- Aged 24 years across two distinctly different climates.
- Bottled at a sturdy 48% ABV.
- Strictly limited to 8,376 bottles globally.
