#27 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2024
St. Supéry Estate Vineyards and Winery is a 100% Estate Grown, sustainably farmed winery located in the renowned Rutherford growing region. The winery's history dates back to 1982 when French vintner Robert Skalli purchased the vast, mountainous Dollarhide Ranch. St. Supéry continues its mission of continuous quality improvement while maintaining Napa Green Winery and Vineyard certifications, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental protection and land stewardship for future generations.
Wine Description
The 100% Sauvignon Blanc presents brilliant hues of pale yellow and green. Fresh aromas of grapefruit, kiwi, and fennel are intertwined with a subtle vanillin thread, indicative of the element of new French oak. On the palate, yellow grapefruit and lime zest flavours follow, along with the essence of ripe pear. The wine is medium-bodied with a dense middle palate, offering a round, rich mouth feel due to toasted oak qualities and the subtle creaminess of sur-lies maturation. The style is described as crisp yet rich, displaying a sense of grapefruity freshness on the finish.
Food Pairing
Suggested pairings include dishes that complement the wine's crispness and rich flavour profile, such as shellfish, vegetarian dishes, and goat cheese. It is an excellent match for preparations like oysters on the half shell, grilled fish or shrimp, and cured salmon.
