SMWS G10.43 "A Great 'Rumification'" is a single-cask Lowland single grain Scotch whisky distilled at the Strathclyde Distillery in Glasgow and bottled by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS). Distilled in July 2005, this expression underwent initial maturation for 16 years in an ex-bourbon barrel before being transferred into a 1st fill shaved, toasted, and re-charred (STR) American oak barrique with toasted new heads for its final 3 years of aging. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 60% ABV without chill filtration or added caramel coloring, it belongs to the SMWS "Juicy, oak & vanilla" flavor profile, delivering an alluring, spiced oak and rich fruit character.
Food Pairing: Pairs exceptionally well with apple crumble, raisin scones, dark chocolate, pecan pie, or aged Gouda cheese.
Tasting Notes: An aromatic, rich, and wood-forward single grain whisky featuring warm baking spices, sweet orchard fruits, vanilla cream, and toasted oak.
Nose: An aromatic blend of mulled spices, including cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and star anise, complemented by orange peel, lemon zest, and exotic wood aromas.
Palate: Rich and indulgent with flavours of apple and blackberry jam on a raisin scone, creamy hot chocolate, toasted oak, and sweet vanilla.
Finish: Long and warming with persistent wood spices, dark fruit sweetness, and lingering toasted oak.
Serve: Enjoy neat in a Glencairn glass or with a splash of water to release its rich spice and fruit layers.
