Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (& Breakfast & Lunch) is a co-fermented blend of 65% Grenache Noir from Spear Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA and 35% Grenache Blanc from Tres Hermanas Vineyard on Foxen Canyon Road in Santa Maria. Both sites are organically farmed. Spear Vineyard sits along the Highway 246 corridor at elevations up to 900 feet, with infertile sandy soils and consistent cool marine winds off the Pacific. Tres Hermanas is a family-owned cattle ranch and vineyard founded in 2001 by the Teixeira family.
The entire blend undergoes full carbonic maceration for 18 days, meaning whole clusters ferment in a sealed, CO2-rich environment before pressing. This technique extracts vivid fruit character and softens tannins while preserving freshness. The 2021 vintage was hotter than normal, pushing the grapes to higher brix at harvest, so this bottling is notably riper and more full-bodied than previous vintages. After pressing, the wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered, with no added sulfites.
Winemaker Scott Sampler operates Scotty Boy! Fine Wines & Super-Coolers out of Buellton, California, as the vin de soif counterpart to his serious, long-maceration CCGP label. The Scotty Boy! line sources exclusively from small family-owned vineyards farmed organically or sustainably, uses native yeast fermentations, and adds nothing to the wine. All bottles are meant to be drunk young, well-chilled, and without ceremony.
