This accessible and fruit-forward red wine originates from Canada, specifically within the British Columbia region and the Okanagan Valley subregion. Road 13 Vineyards is located on the historic Golden Mile Bench in Oliver and was named the Number 1 Winery in Canada in 2018. The winery's philosophy is centred on 'Honest' winemaking that celebrates the rugged spirit of the valley, and the 'Honest John's' series is named after John Oliver, a straightforward 19th-century Premier of British Columbia.
Wine Description
Road 13 Honest John's Red 2024 presents a deep ruby colour. The sensory profile is remarkably aromatic, featuring an intense nose of blackberries, red cherries, and plums, layered with sophisticated notes of black pepper, sage, and a hint of smoky oak. On the palate, the wine is medium bodied and 'crunchy', showcasing supple tannins and a juicy acidity that provides a fresh and approachable mouthfeel. It is characterized by its balanced structure and vibrant fruit character, leading to a smooth finish with lingering notes of dark fruit and savory spice. This complex blend is primarily composed of Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon, typically reaching an ABV of approximately 13.5%. While the winery employs sustainable farming techniques, this wine is not certified organic.
