Pura Vida XO Rum hails from Costa Rica, specifically crafted as the first rum in the country’s history to be entirely fermented, distilled, and matured within its borders. Produced by the French company Les Bienheureux, the brand embodies a philosophy of cultural tribute and environmental commitment, utilizing sustainable packaging made from recycled sugarcane bagasse.
Rum Description
This premium dark rum presents a brilliant golden-amber colour in the glass. The nose is remarkably elegant, offering a complex bouquet of well-caramelized crème brûlée, gingerbread, and tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, underscored by notes of raisin and dried apple. On the palate, Pura Vida XO is round and creamy, delivering balanced flavours of caramel, vanilla, and cedar with subtle spicy nuances and a touch of prune. It possesses a full body and a persistent, slightly spicy finish that remains elegant and long-lasting.
Food Pairing
The rich caramel and vanilla undertones of Pura Vida XO make it a superb companion for grilled meats, particularly a well-seared steak or honey-glazed pork chops. For a sweet conclusion, it pairs beautifully with dark chocolate mousse or a classic vanilla panna cotta, where the rum's oak notes and creamy texture can truly shine.
