Memphis reclaims its distilling heritage. Old Dominick shattered a century of silence by crafting the first local whiskey since Prohibition, returning authentic production to West Tennessee. Master Distiller Alex Castle commands this historic revival with absolute precision. She executes the rigorous Bottled-in-Bond requirements flawlessly, ensuring every barrel matures for a minimum of four years. We admire that profound dedication. The whiskey deliberately bypasses sourced conventions, establishing a formidable new benchmark for the entire region.
A pivotal charcoal filtration defines this endeavor. This crucial Lincoln County Process tempers the underlying distillate, intentionally stripping harsh congeners while simultaneously elevating the fundamental structural grain elements. The sturdy mashbill relies on substantial corn alongside prominent rye and malted barley. We wholeheartedly appreciate how this specific grain ratio balances visceral spice against profound foundational sweetness. The local climate transforms everything. Brutal humidity forces intense barrel interaction, yielding an exceptionally robust oak extraction.
The final result commands undeniable respect. You immediately recognize the sheer effort invested into reviving such an ambitious, localized whiskey-making tradition without ever taking any production shortcuts. This release profoundly shifts our expectations. Every distinct pour proudly showcases the unique agricultural bounty of the American South. Key attributes of this release include:
- Distilled entirely from scratch within downtown Memphis boundaries.
- Endures traditional sugar maple charcoal filtration before extended maturation.
- Maintains rigorous Bottled-in-Bond standards at exactly one hundred proof.
