Nutiva Organic Coconut Oil with Non-Dairy Butter Flavor is a steam-refined coconut oil blended with organic plant-based butter flavor for a creamy, versatile butter alternative.
Nutiva combines certified organic, non-GMO Southeast Asian coconut oil with a vegan butter flavor made from organic plants like sunflower, coconut, and mint. The oil is steam processed (no hexane) to preserve a clean profile rich in medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) and lauric acid. Packaged in convenient 14-ounce jars and sold as a two-pack, this product is formulated to perform as a spread, baking fat, and sautéing oil while fitting into Whole30, vegan, gluten-free, paleo-friendly, and keto-adjacent eating plans.
How does Nutiva coconut oil perform in everyday cooking?
This coconut oil is designed for low- to medium-heat cooking and can tolerate temperatures up to about 400°F, making it suitable for sautéing, baking, and popping popcorn. The plant-based butter flavor adds creaminess and mouthfeel without dairy, while the refined base helps keep the flavor subtle and stable.
- Heat-stable for sautéing and baking up to roughly 400°F
- Subtle buttery aroma that complements sweet and savory recipes
- Works as a spread on bread, toast, or crackers
- Good for making stovetop popcorn with a buttery finish
What ingredients and processing methods make this a cleaner choice?
Nutiva uses steam refinement to extract coconut oil from sustainably harvested, organic coconuts, avoiding solvents such as hexane. The butter flavor is crafted from certified organic, non-GMO plant extracts and delivers taste without dairy, soy, or common allergens.
- Steam-refined coconut oil—no chemical solvents
- Organic, non-GMO coconut source from Southeast Asia
- Vegan butter flavor derived from organic plants (sunflower, coconut, mint)
- Free from dairy, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, soy, gluten, and sulfites
How can this product fit into specific diets or lifestyle goals?
Because it’s plant-based, allergen-friendly, and USDA organic, the oil slots easily into vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and Whole30-style routines. Its MCT-rich profile is attractive to people who prioritize energy-dense saturated fats for low-carb or ketogenic meal plans, although it’s not a medical treatment or guaranteed performance enhancer.
- Whole30 approved and suitable for many elimination diets
- Vegan and plant-based replacement for butter
- Paleo-friendly and compatible with many low-carb approaches
- Convenient two-pack for regular home use or pantry backup
How should I store and use this coconut oil for best results?
Keep jars sealed and stored at room temperature away from direct heat and sunlight; coconut oil may solidify below about 76°F and liquefy when warm. Use a clean utensil to avoid contamination and scoop or spread as needed—warm briefly to soften solidified oil for spreading.
- Store in a cool, dry cupboard; no refrigeration required
- Solid at cooler temperatures—warm gently to liquefy
- Use a dry spoon to prevent introducing moisture or contaminants
- Reseal tightly to preserve aroma and freshness
