Moonbroch Royal Brackla 2012 13 Year Old is a single cask independent bottling released by the Alberta-based independent bottler Moonbroch. Distilled in 2012 at the historic Royal Brackla Distillery in the Scottish Highlands—renowned for its elegant, fruity, and ester-rich spirit—this expression was matured for 13 years before being bottled at cask strength (54.3% ABV) without chill filtration or added color.
Food Pairing: Roast pork with apple sauce, seared duck breast, creamy Brie or Camembert cheese, shortbread, and fruit-based desserts like apple tart or lemon drizzle cake.
Tasting Notes : Warm pale gold in color. Offers a rich, oily, and coating mouthfeel with full-bodied intensity on the palate.
Nose : Bright orchard fruits like green apples and ripe pears, accompanied by soft honey, vanilla cream, lemon zest, toasted oak, and delicate floral notes.
Palate : Vibrant and warming with flavors of poached pears, sweet malt, honeyed cereal, vanilla custard, baking spices, and subtle citrus oils.
Finish : Long, clean, and warming with lingering notes of sweet malt, gentle oak spice, vanilla, and soft fruitiness.
Serve : Best enjoyed neat in a Glencairn glass at room temperature, or with a splash of pure water to open up the high-proof aromas.
