This iconic dry vermouth originates from Italy, specifically the Piedmont region. Produced by Martini & Rossi, a house founded in 1863 by Luigi Rossi and Alessandro Martini, this specific expression was first introduced on New Year's Day in 1900 after ten years of development. The distillery remains a symbol of Italian 'aperitivo' culture, with recipes that have been carefully guarded for nine generations.
The vermouth presents a pale gold or straw colour and is crafted from a base of Italian white wines. Its complex sensory profile features crisp, citrus-scented notes with a delicate perfume of raspberry and lemon. At its heart is the violet-scented tartness of Florentine Orris, alongside a secret blend of over 30 botanicals including rare woods, herbs, and roots. On the palate, it is light-bodied, dry, and refreshing, showing hints of green apple, melon, and a subtle woody background that leads to a clean, slightly bitter finish.
