2023 Petit Rouge consists of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Syrah almost in equal parts. 2023 is a low-crop vintage with a long and warm growing season. 2023 Petit rouge is easily one of the very finest examples ever bottled and certainly in our eyes is the superior wine in the last half dozen vintages. The amazing 2017 comes to mind which just like the 2023 punches way above its weight. but it makes its presence known on both the nose and the palate with that unique herbaceous, spicy, black currant note. The palate is lively and harmonious and a great balance of fruit, tannin and acid makes this wine quite versatile and very food-friendly.
