The Strada S is the volumetric member of the Strada family — the machine that came out of La Marzocco's collaboration with working baristas and stayed in specialty bars because it does the fundamentals better than most things near its price. Independent saturated boilers per group, programmable pre-infusion, and three genuinely different ways to end a shot.
Where the Strada S pulls ahead
- Independent 1.3 L saturated boiler per group: each group has its own 800 W element and its own PID target. Two coffees, two brew temperatures, held simultaneously — the reason a multi-roaster bar specifies a Strada over a shared-boiler machine.
- Programmable pre-infusion per group: set a low-pressure saturation phase independently on each group to suit the grind and the roast. This is the single most effective tool against channelling in a busy bar.
- Three dosing modes: PULSES for pulsed volumetric delivery, MASS for stopping on weight, and BREW RATIO for dispensing to a dry-dose-to-beverage ratio. Most machines give you one; the Strada S lets each barista work the way that suits the coffee.
- 8.2 L steam boiler with a proportional solenoid steam valve: 3000 W of steam capacity and a valve that modulates rather than simply opening, so texturing is controllable rather than binary.
- Pro Touch cool-to-touch steam wands as standard.
- Connected: IoT connectivity with the La Marzocco Pro App for remote monitoring and diagnostics, plus Mahlkönig Grind-by-Sync compatibility so the grinder follows the machine.
Choosing your configuration
- AV (Auto-Volumetric): programmable volumetric doses per group with flow-meter control.
- ABR (Auto Brew Ratio): adds precision scales built into the drip tray, which is what unlocks the MASS and BREW RATIO modes properly. Programme a ratio and the machine dispenses to reach it by weight.
Best suited to
Specialty cafés and roastery bars running more than one coffee on espresso, competition training environments, and any programme where extraction control matters more than raw group count.
Note on pressure profiling: the Strada S is the auto-volumetric Strada. If you need programmable pressure curves, that is the Strada X. Requires a dedicated 30 A circuit (NEMA 6-30). Certified UL-197, NSF-8 and CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 109.
