Juan Valdez Mujeres Cafeteras Whole Bean Coffee is a 16‑ounce bag of 100% Colombian Arabica medium‑roast whole beans crafted by women coffee farmers for a smooth, balanced cup with blackberry and caramel notes.
This single product brings together small‑lot farming, gender‑forward sourcing and a roast profile designed for versatile manual and machine brewing. The beans are handpicked across six Colombian regions, roasted to a medium level to preserve natural sweetness and bright fruit tones, and sold whole to lock in aroma until you grind them at home. The packaging highlights the social and environmental programs behind the coffee while keeping the chemistry of the cup—acidity, body and flavor—simple and approachable.
What flavor can I expect from this medium roast?
The Mujeres Cafeteras blend emphasizes balance: gentle acidity, a medium body and layered flavor where blackberry and sweet caramel stand out. The medium roast level brings forward natural sugars while maintaining the origin’s fruity brightness without heavy roast bitterness.
- Top tasting notes: blackberry and sweet caramel
- Body: medium—smooth mouthfeel suited to milk or black preparations
- Acidity: bright but controlled for daily drinking
- Roast level: medium to preserve origin character
How should I brew these whole beans for best results?
Because the coffee is sold whole, you control grind size and extraction for your preferred method. For clarity and brightness, use a medium‑fine grind for pour‑over; choose coarse for French press; and a medium grind for auto‑drip machines.
- Pour‑over: medium‑fine grind, 1:15–1:17 coffee to water ratio
- French press: coarse grind, 4‑minute steep for balanced extraction
- Drip machine: medium grind, standard manufacturer settings
- Espresso: fine grind—expect sweeter, concentrated caramel notes
What makes this coffee socially and environmentally responsible?
The Mujeres Cafeteras line supports women growers across six Colombian growing regions, investing in local training, fair sourcing and sustainable agriculture practices. Those commitments aim to protect biodiversity, improve farm livelihoods and ensure long‑term quality in the supply chain.
- Produced by women coffee farmers, supporting gender equity
- Sourced from six Colombian regions to reflect terroir diversity
- Sustainable farming practices and biodiversity protection
- Part of Juan Valdez’s broader community and ethical sourcing programs
How fresh will the coffee be and how should I store it?
Whole beans retain aroma and volatile compounds longer than preground coffee; grind just before brewing for the freshest cup. Store the sealed bag in a cool, dark place and avoid the fridge or freezer after opening to minimize moisture and odor transfer.
- Best practice: grind just before brewing for peak aroma
- Storage: airtight container in a cool, dark cupboard
- Shelf life: use within weeks of opening for optimal flavor
- Avoid: exposing beans to heat, light, or humidity
Who is this for: If you value origin‑driven coffee with a clear social mission, enjoy medium‑roast flavors, and prefer grinding beans at home for manual or machine brewing, Juan Valdez Mujeres Cafeteras Whole Bean Coffee is a fitting choice. It suits daily drinkers who want a dependable, balanced cup with approachable fruit and caramel notes and those who prioritize supporting women growers and sustainable sourcing.
