Hailing from Germany, this Riesling is produced in the renowned Mosel region, specifically within the Bereich Bernkastel subregion—an area celebrated for its steep slate vineyards and cool climate ideal for cultivating expressive Rieslings. Josef Drathen, a family-run winery with deep roots in the Mosel valley, combines traditional winemaking with modern precision, producing wines that reflect both regional typicity and artisanal care.
Wine Description
The Josef Drathen Riesling Bernkastel 2024 pours a pale straw hue with brilliant clarity. Aromatically, it opens with vibrant notes of lime zest, green apple, white peach, and hints of floral blossoms and wet stone minerality. On the palate, it is fresh and lively, displaying flavours of crisp citrus, stone fruit, and a touch of honeyed sweetness that is beautifully balanced by racy acidity. Light-bodied and refreshing, the wine finishes with a lingering minerality and gentle fruit echo.
Food Pairing
This off-dry Riesling is an exceptional companion to lightly spiced Asian cuisine, grilled prawns, sushi rolls, or pork schnitzel with a squeeze of lemon. The interplay of sweetness and acidity also makes it ideal with creamy cheeses or dishes with a touch of heat.
