California Chardonnay is good, sometimes even great. The best comes from specific places, and it’s just possible that the Russian River Valley produces the best in the New World. Russian River has unique soils and cooling fogs that blow inland from the Pacific so the grapes retain acidity and develop texture. The Impress Chardonnay is a beautiful example of what makes Russian River Chardonnay so special: citrus, pear, apricot, and white peach fruit flavors play off of terroir-driven notes like wet stone, hibiscus, vanilla, and brioche. The flavors melt together into a decadent New World wine that you will want to come back to again and again.
