What flavor profile should I expect from illy Intenso whole beans?
Expect a concentrated dark-roast character balanced by tasting notes of deep cocoa and subtle dried fruit undertones. The roast is developed to enhance body and length on the palate without masking the Arabica origin.
- Dominant notes: rich cocoa and toasted cocoa nibs.
- Secondary hints: dried fruit warmth and gentle sweetness.
- Mouthfeel: robust, full-bodied with a lingering finish.
How should I brew these beans to get the best results?
Grind just before brewing for maximum aroma and flavor; adjust grind size to match your method—fine for espresso, medium-fine for moka, medium for pour-over, and coarse for French press. Freshly ground beans preserve volatile oils and the roast’s intended profile.
- Espresso: fine grind, 25–30 seconds extraction for concentrated crema.
- Pour-over: medium grind, 2.5–3 minutes total brew time for clarity.
- French press: coarse grind, 4 minutes steep for full body.
What packaging and freshness features does illy use?
illy packages whole beans to protect aroma and shelf life, using a sealed bag engineered to limit oxygen exposure. For best flavor, store the unopened bag in a cool, dark place and consume within a few weeks after opening.
- Sealed retail bag preserves roast aroma and oils.
- Store away from heat, moisture, and sunlight.
- Grind only what you need to maximize freshness.
Does illy Intenso reflect sustainability or sourcing standards?
illy emphasizes responsible sourcing and longer-term environmental goals as part of its brand mission. While the blend highlights quality and flavor, the company also invests in sustainable practices and community initiatives across coffee-growing regions.

- Company programs focused on farmer support and environmental care.
