This vibrant white wine originates from the Beamsville Bench sub-appellation of the Niagara Peninsula in Ontario, Canada. Founded in 2003 by Harald Thiel and his family, Hidden Bench Estate Winery is an artisanal operation dedicated to producing premium wines exclusively from its own certified organic vineyards. The winery's philosophy is centred on a non-interventionist approach, utilizing traditional techniques and sustainable practices; such as geothermal technology and low-yield farming to craft wines that serve as a benchmark for the region's unique limestone-rich terroir.
Wine Description
The Hidden Bench Rosomel Vineyard Fumé Blanc presents as a concentrated and creamy white wine. The sensory profile is highly aromatic, opening with classic notes of fresh grass, hay, and green herbs alongside delicate oak spices. These are layered with fruit aromas of green pear, passion fruit, starfruit, and yellow pomelo. On the palate, the wine is rich yet balanced, showcasing vibrant flavours of grapefruit, tangerine, and gooseberry framed by a distinct flinty and saline minerality. This 100% Sauvignon Blanc has an ABV of 13% and was aged for approximately eight months in French oak barrels, with 12% being new wood. The wine is certified organic by Pro-Cert and produced using indigenous yeasts.
