Fuenteseca Reserva 9 Year rests high in Enrique Fonseca’s cool cellars, a meticulous blend aged mostly in American oak ex-red wine casks with a supporting slice of used French oak for extra contour and polish. The bottling sits at 43% ABV, carrying plush texture, poised sweetness, and a long, steady cadence that feels composed yet vivid.
Agave leads, not wood gloss. Notes of roasted piña, cocoa, espresso, and dark fruit roll in measured waves, framed by vanilla and gentle spice rather than heavy tannin. Each sip lands clean, then unfurls into dried apricot, toasted oak, and a hint of caramelized citrus—balanced, articulate, and quietly luxurious.
Made at La Tequileña, NOM 1146, this Extra Añejo reflects traditional methods and careful barrel stewardship; the brand is widely recognized as additive-free, emphasizing purity over perfume.
