Originating from Italy in the famous Tuscany region, specifically within the premier Panzano in Chianti subregion, Fontodi Chianti Classico represents an organic benchmark for estate grown Sangiovese. Owned and operated by the Manetti family since 1968, the estate is situated in the heart of the amphitheatre shaped valley known as the Conca d'Oro. Fontodi's winemaking philosophy relies on strict organic farming, biodynamic principles, low yields, and traditional spontaneous fermentation to produce authentic, single terroir expressions of remarkable purity and age worthiness.
Wine Description
The wine presents a luminous, deep ruby red colour with subtle garnet highlights in the glass. An inviting and complex bouquet opens with classic aromas of dark Marasca cherry, wild red plum, and crushed violet, layered with subtle accents of dried oregano, leather, tobacco leaf, and wet stone minerality. On the palate, it is medium to full bodied, vibrant, and precise, delivering rich flavours of black cherry, blood orange, and dark cocoa supported by a spine of mouthwatering natural acidity. Framed by firm, fine grained tannins and an elegant mineral grip, it concludes with a long, energetic finish. Composed of 100% Sangiovese sourced entirely from certified organic estate vineyards and aged in French oak troneaux and barriques, it combines high altitude Tuscan freshness, firm structural power, and polished fruit depth.
