Emidio Pepe is a producer of age-worthy reds and whites in Abruzzo, with a winemaking process that has remained philosophically unchanged since Emidio Pepe took over the estate in 1964. The vineyards are located in the northern province of Teramo, with soils where the top 40 centimeters is clay over solid limestone. This bottling is 100% Montepulciano from old-vine parcels. Grapes are grown biodynamically, hand-harvested, hand-destemmed, fermented with spontaneous yeast, and aged 18-24 months in glass-lined cement tanks, then bottled unfined and unfiltered and aged in the cellar for continued development.
