Duckhorn Vineyards makes this fine red wine blend, often called a Bordeaux-style or proprietary blend. It comes from the famous Napa Valley in California, USA. The Discussion is one of the top wines in the Duckhorn range. It is made mostly from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Small amounts of other Bordeaux grapes may join in, such as Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot or Malbec. The exact mix changes with each vintage.
The wine spends about two years in barrel, mostly in new French oak. Alcohol is around 14.5%. It delivers a rich, complex and elegant flavor. Expect dark and red fruit like black cherry, plum and blueberry. Touches of fig, spice and chocolate add depth. It is full-bodied, with smooth, well-built tannins. This wine can also age well for many years.
The grapes come from Duckhorn’s own estate vineyards. It pairs well with hearty dishes like beef, lamb, venison and rich poultry. Critics often give it scores above 90 points.
