Origins & Craftsmanship
Chandon was founded in 1973 in Yountville, Napa Valley, becoming the first French-owned sparkling wine venture established in California. The winery combines traditional French sparkling wine techniques with the vibrant fruit of California vineyards.
Chandon Brut is crafted using the méthode traditionnelle, the same technique used in Champagne, where the wine undergoes a second fermentation to create natural bubbles and complexity.
The blend typically includes:
- Chardonnay (~60%)
- Pinot Noir (~40%)
Grapes are sourced from cool-climate California vineyard sites, allowing the wine to retain freshness while achieving full fruit expression. The wine then spends time aging on the lees to develop subtle creamy texture and brioche complexity.
The 187 ml format—often called a “split” or mini bottle—contains exactly one quarter of a standard 750 ml bottle, making it ideal for single-serve occasions or multi-pack offerings.
