This classic red wine originates from Italy, specifically the Tuscany region, within the Chianti Classico subregion, in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti. Castello di Ama was founded in 1976 by four families from Rome who sought to restore a prestigious estate. Winemaker and General Manager Marco Pallanti, along with co-owner Lorenza Sebasti, leads the estate with a focus on expressing the uniqueness of the terroir and a commitment to sustainable viticulture. This particular bottling, 'Ama', was first introduced in the 2010 vintage to highlight the characteristics of the estate's younger, more productive vines.
Wine Description
It is a quintessential Chianti Classico with a deep ruby red colour. The aromatic profile is notably fresh and floral, offering scents of black cherry, red plum, red rose, and cinnamon. Other notes include orange undertones and the elegance of red currant, cherry, and violet aromas.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and refined. The flavour profile features juicy red fruit, cherry pits, and mineral accents. It is structured with silky tannins and characterized by vibrant, peppy acidity, leading to a tangy and crisp finish. This wine offers a forward personality and impeccable balance, making it a fine choice for drinking now and over the next decade or so.
