Italy’s Cusumano Alta Mora Etna Rosso hails from the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, one of Europe’s most active volcanoes. The Cusumano family, renowned in Sicily for revitalizing traditional winemaking, established the Alta Mora project to honour Etna’s unique terroir, cultivating vineyards at high altitudes on volcanic soils. Their vision emphasizes minimal intervention and respect for the environment, showcasing the purity and minerality typical of Etna wines.
Wine Description
This ruby-hued red wine is crafted entirely from Nerello Mascalese, a native varietal celebrated for its elegance and vibrancy. The nose is perfumed with red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petals, and hints of flint and dried herbs. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and finely structured, offering flavours of sour cherry, crushed stones, and a touch of black tea. The tannins are firm yet polished, and the finish is long with lingering mineral notes.
Food Pairing
Ideal alongside grilled lamb chops, mushroom risotto, or Sicilian caponata. This pairing highlights the wine’s depth and character.
