Burlap & Barrel Sun-Dried Tomato Powder is a single-origin, 100% ground sun-dried tomato that delivers concentrated umami and bright savory tang to snacks, sauces, proteins, and salads.
Hand-harvested along Turkey’s Aegean coast and dried naturally, this finely ground powder concentrates the rich, slightly sweet-and-tart profile of sun-dried tomatoes into an easy-to-sprinkle jar. Free of additives, non-irradiated and non-GMO, it preserves the farm-to-glass flavor so you can add layered depth without extra prep. Ideal for cooks who want bold tomato character in a shelf-stable format, it transforms everyday dishes with a single pinch.
How does this powder change everyday cooking?
Because it’s concentrated tomato flesh, the powder adds immediate savory depth and a tangy finish without altering texture. Use it where you want the essence of sun-dried tomato—no rehydration needed—so it’s faster than chopping or blending fresh tomatoes.
- Sprinkle on popcorn, fries, or roasted vegetables for an umami lift.
- Blend into dressings, mayo, or compound butters for instant tomato flavor.
- Stir into breadcrumbs, rubs, or batter for seasoned crusts on fried chicken or fish.
How do I use it in sauces, soups, and dressings?
The powder dissolves easily into liquids and emulsions, enriching sauces with concentrated tomato character and color without excess water. It’s excellent for boosting depth in tomato-free preparations too, adding a subtle savory backbone to non-tomato soups and vinaigrettes.
- Whisk 1–2 teaspoons into vinaigrettes or mayonnaise for bright tang.
- Add 1 tablespoon to pan sauces and stews to deepen savory notes.
- Blend into cream- or oil-based pastes for instant pizza or pasta flavor.
What makes this sun-dried tomato powder different from other tomato powders?
This product is single-origin and sourced directly from small farms on Turkey’s Aegean coast, where unique growing conditions create a concentrated, herbaceous tomato profile. Burlap & Barrel mills and packages the tomatoes without fillers or anti-caking agents, preserving the pure tomato taste and aroma.
- 100% ground sun-dried tomato—no additives or fillers.
- Traceable sourcing from smallholder farms with natural drying methods.
- Non-irradiated and non-GMO for a clean pantry ingredient.
How much should I use and how do I store it?
A little goes a long way: start with a quarter-to-half teaspoon and increase to taste. Keep the jar sealed and stored in a cool, dark cupboard to maintain aroma and flavor; properly stored, it keeps well for months.
- Start with ¼–½ teaspoon per serving, then adjust.
- Store in a cool, dark place away from heat and humidity.
- Use with dry or wet preparations—no rehydration required.
Who is this for? Home cooks, professional chefs, and food gift-givers who want concentrated tomato umami without the bulk or prep of fresh sun-dried tomatoes will appreciate this jar. It’s suited to anyone looking to boost savory depth in snacks, marinades, sauces, and dressings while keeping clean-label ingredients in the pantry. If you love tomato-forward flavor—pizza, roasted vegetables, savory snacks, or inventive condiments—this single-origin powder offers an easy, shelf-stable way to layer bright, tangy richness into every dish.
