BenRiach 12 Year Old is a beautifully crafted Speyside single malt from one of Scotland's most dynamic and celebrated independent distilleries, located in the heart of the Lossie Valley near Elgin. Founded in 1898 and revived under independent ownership in 2004, BenRiach has earned a devoted following for its exceptional quality, multi-cask maturation philosophy, and its rare ability to produce both peated and unpeated expressions of equal distinction.
This unpeated 12 Year Old is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and ex-sherry casks, allowing the distillery's clean, fruity spirit to develop a satisfying depth and complexity over time. The nose is fresh and inviting — ripe orchard fruit, vanilla cream, and a gentle floral sweetness, with warm hints of toffee and toasted oak emerging with time in the glass. On the palate, it's medium-bodied and elegantly structured: green apple, honey, soft caramel, and a gentle warming spice weave together with a pleasing smoothness and balance. The finish is clean, medium-length, and gently warming, with lingering vanilla, dried fruit, and a touch of sweet oak.
An approachable, well-rounded Speyside single malt that consistently over-delivers for its age — BenRiach 12 is a reliable staple for any home bar.
