Auchentoshan Three Wood is the jewel of the Auchentoshan range — a masterclass in triple distillation and triple cask maturation from Scotland's most distinctive Lowland distillery. As the name suggests, this NAS expression is matured across three different cask types in sequence: ex-bourbon, ex-Oloroso sherry, and ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry. The result is a whisky of extraordinary richness, depth, and complexity that stands apart from anything else in the Lowland category.
The nose is immediately captivating — a lush, almost dessert-like abundance of dark dried fruit: raisin, prune, and fig lead the way, layered with dark chocolate, espresso, and a warming cinnamon spice, all carried on the signature silky lightness of Auchentoshan's triple-distilled spirit. On the palate, the PX sherry influence shines: treacle, Christmas cake, roasted coffee, and dark cherry build in waves of sweetness and spice, balanced beautifully by the clean, refined character that only triple distillation can produce. The finish is long, warming, and deeply satisfying — dark fruit, chocolate, and a gentle oakiness fading slowly and luxuriously.
A sherry lover's dream and one of the Lowlands' most celebrated expressions — Three Wood is Auchentoshan at its most indulgent.
