Don't let the name fool you — there is nothing small about Ardbeg Wee Beastie. At just 5 years old, this is Ardbeg's youngest and most ferociously raw expression, a whisky that roars with untamed Islay peat and youthful energy. Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-oloroso sherry casks and bottled at a robust 47.4% ABV without chill-filtration, Wee Beastie is a bold, uncompromising dram that makes no apologies for its wild character.
The nose is immediate and intense — fresh tar, smoked fish, and medicinal peat hit first, followed by a surprising sweetness of vanilla, green apple, and a hint of citrus zest that softens the beast just enough. On the palate, it's a full-throttle experience: charred oak, espresso, dark chocolate, and a fierce peppery spice surge alongside the smoke, with a raw, almost electric energy that only young whisky can deliver. The finish is long, dry, and powerfully smoky, with a lingering heat and brine that fades slowly and satisfyingly.
For those who want Ardbeg at its most primal — Wee Beastie is a force of nature in a bottle.
