Ancient Age might sound like something Indiana Jones dug out of a temple, but really it’s a humble, budget-friendly bourbon that’s been keeping bar shelves stocked since the 1940s. Born at the legendary Buffalo Trace Distillery, this whiskey has a pedigree longer than most CVS receipts—but don’t expect velvet ropes or fancy glass stoppers. This is bourbon in its work boots.

Palate: Starts smooth and friendly, like that neighbor who always waves, then eases into warm notes of toffee, honey, and a little spice to remind you it’s still bourbon, not maple syrup.
