Fruit Purity Over Age
This is not your typical brandy — Battonage 2018 is designed to celebrate the freshness and fruit character of Pedro Ximénez rather than relying solely on long ageing. Distilled from the winery’s PX Cosecha wine (Delicado), it retains the aromatic personality of the grape.
Production:
The distillate is aged for just 8 months in the very same French oak barrels used for the Cosecha wine. The brandy rests on its lees with continuous battonage (gentle stirring), enhancing body, smoothness, and subtle fruit-driven complexity, rather than being dominated by oak.
🌡️ Temperature: Recommended temperature to enjoy: room temperature, below 25ºC.
🍷 Glass: Open glass, but always in moderate quantity.
🛢️ Aging Potential: Under optimal conditions it can be stored over a lifetime.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: A standstill glass is a clear distillation with the own aromas of the wine that gives origin to it. There are notes of ripe plum. When putting the glass in rotation comes to memory green apple, without the alcoholic volatility unbalancing the exuberant and clean fruit manifestation of this special distillate.
Palate: The obvious manifestation of its alcoholic degree does not detract in any way the fruits that are enhanced in the palate, as well as the volume in the mouth acquired with the battonage of the lees. The aftertaste is long, although delicate and subtle. Nothing heavy, pleasant and extremely silky.
