Whisky Blues Kildalton 22 Year Old No. 091 is a single-cask Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky independently bottled by Whisky AGE under The Whisky Blues label in collaboration with PK Spirits/PK Maltroom. Distilled on 13 May 2003 and bottled on 23 June 2025 at 22 years old, it was drawn from second-fill bourbon barrel #117 and released at cask strength of 53.3% ABV, with only 249 bottles produced. The whisky displays a distinctly mature Islay character, combining medicinal peat, tar and coastal mineral notes with citrus, gentle fruit and oily malt character.
Food Pairing: Pair with smoked salmon, grilled oysters, barbecued meats, smoked cheeses, or dark chocolate with sea salt.
Tasting Notes: Powerful and oily, with medicinal peat, tar, mineral character and maritime salinity balanced by citrus and subtle fruit.
Nose: Medicinal and mineral aromas lead with antiseptic, tar, wet chalk and beach sand, followed by touches of citrus, shellfish and oily, wax-like notes as the whisky opens.
Palate: Full-bodied and oily, showing pronounced tar and medicinal character alongside salt, eucalyptus and hints of citrus. With water, green pepper, herbal balm and oyster-like coastal notes become more apparent.
Finish: Long and persistent, carrying tarry peat, saline character and lingering medicinal notes.
Serve: Best enjoyed neat in a whisky tasting glass. At 53.3% ABV, allow it to rest before tasting and consider adding a few drops of water to reveal additional citrus, mineral and coastal character.
