Wente Charles Wetmore Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 is an elegantly bold and deeply expressive red wine that beautifully showcases the historic terroir of the Livermore Valley. Pouring a deep garnet hue, it opens with an inviting and classic bouquet of black currant, dark plum, and ripe black cherry, perfectly nuanced by the appellation's signature "Livermore Dust" earthiness. Matured for 18 months in French oak barrels, the nose is further enhanced by creamy hints of roasted cocoa nibs, vanilla, and subtle hardwood spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied, rich, and structurally sound, delivering a generous core of concentrated dark fruit. Supported by a firm, well-integrated tannin structure and a balanced acidity, the wine culminates in a long, layered, and highly satisfying finish that hints at its excellent aging potential.
Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with grilled beef tenderloin, rich five-cheese lasagna, savory wild mushroom risotto, bacon-wrapped dates, and robust blue cheeses.
92 Points - James Suckling
This full-bodied red tames the typical tannins of cabernet with luscious, tempting fruit and oak spice flavors for a big but drinkable style. Blackberries, black cherries, cocoa, iron, graphite and charred oak nuances combine on the palate for good complexity followed by a lingering finish.
