Originating from Portugal in the famous Douro region, specifically within the premier Cima Corgo subregion, Warres Vintage Port 2020 represents a historic single estate expression from the oldest British Port house. Established in 1670, Warre's is celebrated for its elegant, floral-driven style, today owned and operated by Symington Family Estates. Sourced primarily from the historic, high-elevation Quinta da Cavadinha estate alongside Quinta do Retiro, the winemaking philosophy relies on traditional stone lagar foot treading combined with modern temperature-controlled stainless steel lagares to produce concentrated, aromatic Vintage Ports built for long-term cellaring.
Wine Description
The wine presents an opaque, deep ruby purple colour with bright crimson rims in the glass. An expressive and highly floral bouquet opens with signature aromas of fresh rockrose, wild violet, and cassis, interwoven with vibrant notes of ripe dark cherry, wild blackberry, mint, dark chocolate, and subtle peppery spice. On the palate, it is full bodied, dense, and remarkably energetic, delivering rich layers of black fruits, licorice, and cocoa bean supported by a spine of lively natural acidity. Framed by fine-grained, muscular tannins and an undercurrent of schist minerality, it concludes with a long, elegant, and persistent finish. Composed of a traditional blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Sousao, and old-vine field blends, this boxed release offers an optimal drinking window of 2028–2055+. Stylistically, it effortlessly combines Warre's trademark floral lift and fresh elegance with intense fruit concentration and structural power.
