This pear spirit originates from Hungary, produced in the Kecskemét region by Zwack, Hungary's historic producer famous for Unicum. Launched in the late 20th century to offer an approachable, fruit-forward alternative to classic pálinka, Vilmos is crafted by blending authentic Williams pear distillate (Vilmoskörte pálinka) with high-quality neutral spirit and natural pear aromas, resulting in a smooth, accessible pear-flavoured spirit.
Spirit Description
This spirit presents a bright, golden straw color with subtle warm highlights in the glass. The nose is intense and immediately aromatic, opening with a burst of ripe Williams pear, fresh orchard fruit blossoms, and sweet honeyed notes. On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied with a soft, rounded mouthfeel, offering luscious flavors of juicy Williams pear flesh, poached fruit sweetness, and delicate floral accents, balanced by a gentle warmth. The finish is clean, smooth, and pleasantly sweet, leaving a lingering trail of fresh pear skin and light fruit spice. Bottled at an approachable strength of 37.5% ABV, it delivers a vibrant, smooth, and highly aromatic profile.
Accolades
Vilmos is one of Hungary's most popular commercial spirits, widely celebrated throughout Central and Eastern Europe for its consistent quality and approachable flavor profile. Produced by the legendary Zwack distillery, it holds a beloved position in Hungarian hospitality and casual dining culture as a staple fruit-forward digestive spirit.
