Madame Clicquot was an audacious woman. When her husband died in 1805, she took over the reins of the business at 27 years old, with one tireless vision – “Only one quality, the finest”. La Grande Dame, is a showcase of the House’s excellence. It perfectly expresses its love for Pinot Noir, which since the 2008 vintage, has represented over 90% of the blend. It is a tribute to Madame Clicquot and to the creative and elegant souls who have followed in her footsteps. A wine to reflect the image of La Grande Dame herself. Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2008 is great for gastronomy, pairing extremely well with oysters, fish tartare or even chicken with sesame.
###Product Description
A blend of Pinot noir (92%) and chardonnay (8%) from six grand cru vineyards – Aÿ, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzy, Verzenay and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger – make up this vintage. A cool and rainy spring and a cool, dry summer created grapes with a remarkable acidity that recalled other extraordinary vintages from the maison. Aged for 10 years, it has a complexity that will develop further in time.
Tasting Notes
On the nose: Notes of dried fruits (almonds, figs, apricots), ripe white fruits as pears, and finally, subtle toasted notes of hazelnut and praline. On the palate: strong and sharp, with a silky texture upon young fruits, carried by citrus and red fruits notes. The signature Pinot Noir shines extraordinarily by its freshness, minerality and power. La Grande Dame 2008 is a perfect combination of complexity, structure and strength.
