🏆 Critical Acclaim: 92 pts James Suckling
Zenato La Sansonina Merlot 2014 | Veronese IGT | 750ml | 14% ABV
La Sansonina is the Zenato family's single-vineyard Merlot — a hidden gem from the Veneto that showcases how beautifully this Bordeaux grape thrives in Italy's northeast. The vineyard sits in the morainic hills south of Lake Garda, where the microclimate lends elegance and structure.
The 2014 offers aromas of ripe plum, blackberry, and subtle herbaceous notes complemented by sweet vanilla from oak ageing. On the palate, it is medium-full bodied with velvety tannins, flavours of dark fruit, coffee, and a touch of earth, finishing long and smooth.
A refined Italian Merlot that punches well above its price — exactly the kind of discovery Luigi loves to share.
Pair with: Veal scaloppine, mushroom tagliatelle, or Taleggio cheese.
