- First Cycle — Insert the portafilter into the group head. Activate the brew cycle for 10 seconds, then stop for 10 seconds. Repeat 5 times.
- Rinse Portafilter — Remove the portafilter and rinse it under the stream of water from the group head.
- Second Cycle — Re-insert the portafilter without any cleaner. Activate the brew cycle for 10 seconds, stop for 10 seconds. Repeat 5 times.
- Final Check — Pull and discard one shot of espresso to confirm no cleaner residue remains before serving.
For Superautomatic Espresso Machines: Follow your machine manufacturer's cleaning cycle instructions, inserting the tablet as directed (typically in the pre-ground or cleaning tablet chamber).

Can these tablets be used for soaking parts? Yes. Dissolve one or more tablets in warm water to create a soaking solution for portafilters, filter baskets, shower screens, and other removable components that benefit from a deep clean.
Are Puro tablets safe for my espresso machine? Yes. Puro tablets are NSF-certified and specifically formulated for use in espresso equipment. They are safe for all brew units when used as directed. Always follow your machine manufacturer's cleaning guidelines.
What is the difference between Puro and Cafiza tablets? Both are Urnex espresso machine cleaning tablets designed for backflushing. Puro tablets are 1.3g each and part of the Urnex Puro product line.
