Origins & Craftsmanship
Produced by The Macallan in Speyside, this limited edition is part of the “Distil Your World” series—each release crafted to capture the essence of a city. For the Hong Kong Edition, the whisky-maker collaborated with renowned culinary innovators to distil the spirit of the metropolis into wood and whiskey.
Matured in a marriage of sherry-seasoned European oak hogsheads and select American oak casks, this whisky reflects deep artistry in oak selection, marrying the richness of The Macallan’s classic style with a sharper, more layered expression intended to evoke contrasts—heritage and modernity, dawn-to-dusk cityscape, tradition versus innovation. It is bottled at 46.8% ABV and released in very limited numbers, making it both rare and premium.
Tasting Profile
Nose: A lavish aroma of dried mango and dark cherry, ginger spice and burnt orange peel, an earthy backdrop of antique oak and rich honeyed sweetness. Underneath, hints of pomelo zest, baking coconut, and a subtle seaside salinity weave through.
Palate: Smooth and densely textured. The initial sweetness of fig, caramel and tropical fruit gives way to structured ginger spice, warm cassia bark, dark chocolate shavings and rich oak tannin. Mid-palate development brings citrus peel and toasted almond before layering in a faint umami undertone and seaside mineral echo.
Finish: Long and evolving. The finish leaves lingering notes of antique oak, dark raisin, crystallised ginger, and a final drift of caramelised citrus rind and saline seam. It feels expansive, thoughtful, and sophisticated.
