Introduction
The Macallan A Night on Earth: The First Light is a limited edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the country of Scotland, specifically the Speyside region. The Macallan Distillery was established in 1824 by Alexander Reid, and it is renowned worldwide for its commitment to the mastery of wood and spirit. This release is the fourth instalment in the annual 'A Night on Earth' series, which celebrates how different cultures mark the turn of the year. This edition commemorates the arrival of the new year's first light in New Zealand, one of the first countries in the world to greet the sunrise on January 1st.
Spirit Description
This single malt is crafted from a harmonious combination of sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks, with a sparing inclusion of American oak ex-bourbon barrels. The colour is a deep golden sand. The nose offers caramel notes of burnt icing sugar, a silky vanilla sweetness, red berries, and a fleeting scent of Manuka honey. The palate is rich with caramel and mellow baking spices, vanilla ice cream, toasted marshmallows, stone fruits, and hints of coconut and Manuka honey. The body is warm and welcoming, with a fruity profile that echoes the joy of festive summer gatherings. The finish is sweet and fruity, with mellow spice and a touch of toasted oak. The spirit is bottled at 43% ABV.
