The Macallan 12 Year Old Sherry Cask is a quintessential expression of classic Speyside elegance and rich sherried sophistication. Deep, layered, and luxuriously textured, it offers profound dried fruit and spice character balanced with polished oak and a long, warming finish — a whisky that feels both timeless and indulgent.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Distilled at The Macallan Distillery in Speyside, Scotland, this 12-year-old release highlights the brand’s century-plus dedication to oak cask mastery.
-
Spirit Foundation: The Macallan’s single malt begins with lightly peated Scottish barley, distilled in copper pot stills designed for maximum flavor concentration.
-
Sherry Cask Focus: Matured exclusively in hand-selected sherry seasoned oak casks sourced from Jerez, Spain — a hallmark of The Macallan’s style. These casks, crafted from European and American oak, impart rich fruit, spice, and wood complexity.
-
Aging: A full 12 years in sherry oak allows integration of sweet and savory elements, melding dried fruit richness with subtle wood tannin and spice.
-
Craft Philosophy: Minimal intervention, natural color, and careful cask selection yield a spirit that is expressive, textured, and reflective of both region and barrel influence.
This sherry-oak maturation is central to The Macallan’s identity and why this expression remains a benchmark in sherried single malt.
