The Chocolate Block with Bottle Stopper
This Chocolate Block wine comes with a bottle stopper, ensuring that once opened, the freshness and quality are preserved for longer. Whether you choose to enjoy it upon release or cellar it for up to five years, The Chocolate Block will continue to evolve beautifully over time.
An exceptional wine from the prestigious Boekenhoutskloof winery in South Africa, located in the beautiful Franschhoek region. Known for its bold and complex flavours, this wine has gained a cult following due to its incredible richness and limited production. Made in small quantities, The Chocolate Block is a blend that consistently exceeds expectations, boasting smooth textures and a harmonious balance of fruit and spice.
This opulent red wine is primarily Syrah-led, offering a deep and full-bodied experience. Aged for up to 18 months in old French oak barrels, it showcases a careful and intricate mix of Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, and Cabernet Sauvignon, with a touch of Viognier to enhance its aromatic profile. Its flavours are as complex as its craftsmanship, with each vintage reflecting slight changes that keep enthusiasts coming back for more.
- The Chocolate Block offers a rich and full-bodied profile with vibrant blackberry, plum, and cherry flavours.
- A beautiful complexity with hints of leather, spice, and a distinct touch of chocolate.
- Super-fine tannins give the wine a smooth and luscious mouthfeel, making it incredibly easy to drink.
- A slightly floral lift from the Viognier adds elegance and complexity to the wine.
- A perfect balance of fruit, spice, and richness with a lingering, velvety finish.
The Chocolate Block is a wine that pairs exceptionally well with hearty, flavourful dishes. Its bold character makes it ideal for rich, char-grilled meats such as steak and lamb, especially when prepared with aromatic spices. It’s also fantastic with game meats and roasts, offering the perfect balance to savoury and smoky flavours. For a more indulgent pairing, try this wine with a rich dark chocolate dessert, where the wine’s chocolaty notes can truly shine.
