The Cairn Distillery CRN57 30 Year Old is a prestigious blended malt that represents the pinnacle of the core collection from the Cairn Distillery, a project founded by the historic independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail. As the distillery's own spirit matures, the CRN57 range—named for the distillery's latitude—uses expertly selected older stocks to showcase the desired house style. This 30-year-old expression is defined by its maturity, having undergone extensive aging to achieve a profile of remarkable richness and depth.
On the nose, it delivers an opulent and complex bouquet of rich fruitcake, dark chocolate, and candied orange peel, accented by warm notes of cinnamon and polished oak. The palate is full-bodied and incredibly smooth, showcasing layers of sultanas, honeyed figs, and forest fruits, all balanced by a gentle peppery spice and a hint of liquorice. The finish is exceptionally long and warming, leaving a lingering impression of sweet dates, toasted nuts, and refined oak tannins.
