From southern Italy’s Puglia region, the Castel del Monte DOC is home to Tenuta Bocca di Lupo, part of the Antinori family estates. The winery embraces organic viticulture and focuses on expressing the unique character of the Murgia plateau through international and indigenous grape varieties. Its philosophy blends tradition with innovation, highlighting the intensity and freshness that the terroir imparts to Cabernet Sauvignon.
Wine Description
The 2022 ‘Locone’ pours a deep ruby with purple highlights. On the nose, it opens with ripe blackcurrant, bramble, and cherries, lifted by notes of rosemary, mint, cocoa, and liquorice. The palate is generous, starting softly with a juicy fruit core, then evolving into velvety yet firm tannins that provide structure. Hints of herbs and spice add complexity, while the finish is persistent, slightly dry, and well supported by freshness.
Food Pairing
An excellent companion to grilled beef, roast lamb, or hearty pasta ragù. It also pairs well with game and aged cheeses such as Pecorino or Parmigiano-Reggiano.
