Dive into the enigmatic allure of Suntory Yamazaki Smoky Batch The Second Single Malt Japanese Whisky. Released in 2024 by Suntory’s Yamazaki Distillery in Osaka, Japan—Japan’s first and oldest malt distillery, founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii—this 86-proof (43% ABV) limited-edition single malt is the second release in the Smoky Batch series, following the acclaimed First Batch. Crafted from 100% smoky malts, likely using imported peated malt, it’s aged in a blend of American, Spanish, and Japanese Mizunara oak casks, delivering a nuanced “Japanese-style gentle smokiness.” Non-chill filtered, it showcases Yamazaki’s signature finesse under Chief Blender Shinji Fukuyo. Exclusively available at Japanese duty-free shops like Narita Airport, it’s a collector’s prize. Sip it neat to savor its delicate smoke and fruit, on the rocks for a smoother profile, or in a Highball for a refreshing twist.
