Shadows on a Hill is a Chardonnay made by Brent Mayeaux of Stagiaire Wine, a natural wine project launched in 2018 from Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay. The fruit is sourced from a south-facing, formerly Schramsberg site in Marin County within the Petaluma Gap AVA, farmed organically by Mayeaux and David Rothschild. The hand-harvested grapes were direct pressed and fermented in portions in both stainless steel and old oak barrels, then combined and aged in old wood. It is made in a Jura-influenced, zero-zero style without added sulfites.
