Tenute Silvio Nardi Brunello di Montalcino 2001 is a mature and expressive Tuscan red that showcases the classic character of aged Sangiovese. It pours a deep garnet hue and opens with layered aromas of ripe cherry, wild strawberry, and forest floor, complemented by notes of vanilla and subtle earthiness. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a smooth, creamy texture, revealing flavors of red berries, dried herbs, and a touch of spice. Fine, integrated tannins and evolving complexity lead to a long, nuanced finish with a slightly tangy lift.
Food Pairing: Braised lamb shanks, wild mushroom risotto, aged pecorino, roasted game meats, or classic beef ragù.
90 Points - Wine Spectator
Very jammy with lots of berry and blackberry character. Full-bodied, with a long finish. A bit one-dimensional, but will develop nicely. Best after 2008. 12,500 cases made, 2,500 cases imported.
89 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Very ripe cherry, strawberry, forest floor, vanilla and grape juice notes render a lush, medium-bodied wine with creamy smoothness in the mouth. Sour acidity is a slight distraction.
